Landscape Architect / Senior Designer

We have an immediate opening for a Landscape Architect / Senior Designer with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Didier Design Studio is seeking a Landscape Architect / Senior Designer to join our collaborative team of 8 people.

    Didier Design Studio is an award-winning landscape architecture firm located in Fort Collins Colorado. We operate as a mission-based practice, forming partnerships with clients and project teams around a shared sense of vision and purpose.

    We shape ideas and craft spaces that are inspired by and mindful of local resources, scales, textures, and materials. Our designs express a unique sense of place, revealing relationships between ecological systems and cultural patterns of a given site.

    Our work is distributed across the region and nation, and our projects and clients include botanic gardens, arboretums, university campus , cultural institutions, private commissions for large residential projects, and other unique collaboration with key architects. All projects reflect our belief that landscape is a medium to explore big ideas and create positive change through design.

    Job Description: Landscape Architect / Senior Designer

    We have an immediate opening for a Landscape Architect / Senior Designer with a minimum of 5 years of experience. We invite applications from highly motivated, forward-thinking professionals with an appreciation for sustainable design and a place-based approach to landscape architecture. The ideal candidate will share a commitment to our focus and design sensibility and be a strong contributor to our creative, collaborative design process. Must demonstrate excellent graphic and technical skills and the ability to communicate and work well within interdisciplinary teams. The position is preferably full-time in-person in our Fort Collins office. We would consider a hybrid position (part-remote and part in-person) with a minimum of 2 days per week in our Fort Collins office. Position is full-time.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead design efforts and manage projects from concept design through construction documentation

    • Collaborate with senior staff and junior staff to allow our team’s collective knowledge and expertise to be integrated in each project

    • Collaborate with client and consultant teams including architects, engineers, and project stakeholders

    • Create proposals and manage project schedules and deliverables

    • Provide initiative and leadership by analyzing designs from various perspectives, such as 3D modeling (using Rhino and SketchUp), grading, and section studies

    • Contribute to design development and construction documentation, with expertise in detailing, reviewing construction documents for clarity and constructability, and specification writing

    • Monitor project compliance with local jurisdiction codes, rules, and regulations

    • Contribute to the creative culture of our practice through design studies, charettes, collaborative sessions, and weekly Team Design Hours

    Required Skills:

    • Strong graphic and technical skills

    • Knowledge of landscape architectural design principles, materials, and methods

    • Expertise using a wide range of design tools from hand sketching to digital modeling

    • Attention to detail and quality in design deliverables

    • Aptitude to collaborate, listen, and work well as part of a team

    • Demonstrated proficiency in most of the following programs:

    AutoCAD (required)

    Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel

    Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

    Sketchup and/or Rhino

    Bluebeam

    Lumion, Enscape, or similar

    Google calendar, Google Drive and Gmail

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline such as Architecture or Urban Design

    • Strong alignment with our studio’s mission, focus, and design sensibility

    • A minimum of 5 years of project experience, especially on projects similar in nature to Didier Design Studio’s work at comparable firms

    • Significant project management experience is required - Professional licensure is desirable

    Compensation:

    Range between $80,000 to $92,000, depending on experience.

    Classification: Exempt Position

    Benefits: As part of this Full-Time Employee Position, you are entitled to the benefits listed below:

    • Access to the Firm’s Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance offered the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. The company contributes half of the employee only premium of the medical plan, and up to $500 per month.

    • Seven (7) Paid Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, The Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas.

    • PTO – 0.0385 hours accrued per hour worked.

    • Bonus PTO program.

    Working conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, electronic postage meter, filing cabinets, and other typical office environments.

    Travel: This job will require out-of-state travel, as well as to attend meetings in Denver and in the region.
